This time of year is so much fun, for so many reasons! Leaves are changing colors, the air is growing a bit more crisp, (well maybe not here in sunny SoCal, but we can pretend right?!) pumpkin spice lattes have made their way back on to the menus of our favorite coffee shops, and of course, the best part for our kiddos - Halloween! GIGIL had the pleasure of participating in #MOMsterBash yesterday, hosted by The Moms Club of Long Beach and LB Kids (Macaroni Kids Long Beach). Families got to enjoy games, crafts, goodies, giveaways, trick-or-treating, live music, yummy food and of course our locally famous sensory bin stations! This community event was the perfect way to kick off our Halloween celebration! If you missed it, be sure to check in with Macaroni Kid Long Beach for their next community event!
Some of our fondest memories that I’m sure many of us can relate to, is dressing up on Halloween, and eating tons of CANDY!!! ! Now as parents, we have the opportunity to bring those childhood experiences to our own little ones!
Safety is definitely the top priority to ensure our kids have a fun and safe Halloween experience! The Teal Pumpkin Project is a new movement that has been spreading out all over the nation, and even in parts of Canada! The Teal Pumpkin Project is creating awareness of children with food allergies that may not be able to enjoy the typical candy we’re used to passing out to trick-or-treaters. This project promotes inclusion for all types of trick-or-treaters substituting candy for other fun items! By placing a teal colored pumpkin on your doorstep, passersby will see that you have non-food treats to hand out- glow sticks, trinkets, toys, etc. Remember to always inspect the goodies your kiddos bring home- candy or otherwise! By participating in the Teal Pumpkin Project, EVERY child will get the opportunity to take part on this spooky, fun holiday! Consider being an agent of inclusion, an advocate for spreading awareness for children with allergies, and Go Teal!
Wishing everyone a fun and safe Halloween celebration!
